Toys "R" Us Fabulous 15: Hot toys of the holiday season

Published
The good people at Toys "R" Us headquarters have ways of predicting what the hot new toys for the next Christmas season are going to be.

Does it involve harvesting hundreds of kids' brains in jars and hooking them up to a super computer? Probably not ... but can we be sure?! Who knows what dark arts are practiced in the name of Geoffrey the Giraffe?

Well, no matter the methods, every year they crank out their Fabulous 15 List. And this year is no different. Some choices may be a bit dubious, as they are Toys R Us exclusives, but, with the accuracy of previous-years' predictions, we're willing to give them a pass on that minor indiscretion.

So, here they are, the "Fabulous 15":

  • Step2 50's Diner
What better way to start your child off on a career in the food preparation / service industry?!
  • SpinMaster Bakugan BakuBelt Action Kit
I'm sure that this item makes sense to the kids out there. I, however, am flummoxed.
  • Playmobil Circus Ring
Oh, Playmobil! You're just like LEGOs, but without all that pesky "creativity".
  • Radio Flyer Classic Lights and Sounds Trike
With all the noises this thing makes, you'll probably WANT to forget to pick up batteries this year.
  • Jakks Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker
A cupcake maker just for girls?! That's gender-biased! What? It's Pink? Nevermind, the girls can keep it.
  • Jakks EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles
Parents are advised to lock their doors during "alone time". Simply turning off the lights won't cut it once your child has these.
  • Furreal Friends Biscuit My Lovin' Pup
Are your kids too irresponsible to care for a real puppy? Well, here you are!
  • Fisher-Price Imaginext Spike the Ultra Dinosaur
Are your kids too irresponsible to care for a real dinosaur? Well, here you are!
  • Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn: Shop & Learn Walker
Teach 'em early to be shoppers.
  • Fisher-Price Little Mommy Sweet As Me Doll
I know there's at least one parent out there who has just sighed, "If ONLY my child was as sweet and silent as this doll." Shame on you!
  • Apple iPod nano 8GB MP3 Player in Pink
Really loving parents would spring for the iPhone. ColorWare will hook you up with a Pink one.
  • LeapFrog Reading System in Pink
What is it with all these "in Pink" toys? Is this the only way the industry knows how to market towards girls? (Probably ...)
  • Fisher-Price Sesame Street Elmo Live!
Yes. Just like the flu, you can't stop a new Elmo outbreak from happening, over and over. It's become a real X-Mas tradition.
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Twilight
Why this particular set of LEGOs is singled out as the "gotta have it" toy, I dont know. Maybe Toys "R" Us wasn't shifting them fast enough and saw this as a way to move its overstock?
  • Nintendo Wii Fit
What?! X-Mas has nothing to do with getting fit! I mean, just look at that Santa fellow! Do you think he uses this?!
As you can see, the list encompasses a fairly good range from young to younger age groups, so there's no reason why you shouldn't buy something from this list for a child in your life. In fact, NOT buying them something from this list means you don't really love them enough. True story.
