Black Friday Nintendo Deal Predictions

  • Nintendo will take up to 50% off in the eShop
  • Nintendo Switch bundles could be as cheap as $330
  • The Switch console could fall to $240 on its own

Nintendo isn't known for cutting prices, and the discounts we do see aren't always notable. However, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the rest of the holiday season are good times to keep an eye on Nintendo's offerings.

For the past two years, Nintendo has released mini versions of its NES and SNES consoles to great success. If you're shopping for these nostalgic consoles this year, expect to pay list price at best; these popular gifts often go for much higher prices on the resale market.

Although there's been no official announcement yet this year, there's still a chance that Nintendo could release a new mini console in 2018, such as an N64 mini. If they do, we strongly suspect it'll cost at least $100, and we don't anticipate any discounts for the holidays.

Shopping for a popular mini console like the SNES or NES? Expect to pay at least list price (and probably more) on the resale market.

Other Nintendo products will be more attainable, though. We expect to see hefty Switch bundles for as cheap as $330.

We've already seen one bundle for that price this year, and it included a Switch console, a game, a memory card, a Super Mario Odyssey skin and screen protector kit, and an Insignia dock kit. Considering that the Switch retails for $300, that's one of the better deals we've seen. If you're hoping to get a Switch bundled with just a game or gift card, we've seen several of those offers this year for around $300. And if you're shopping for the console alone, we fully expect to see that price drop to at least $249 at a variety of stores.

Nintendo will also have its own Black Friday sale, where the brand will take up to 50% off select game downloads for a variety of consoles. Stores like Target could discount certain titles to $15, but don't expect those deals to include any new, highly anticipated games.

Shopping for Nintendo video game accessories? We expect to see the Switch Pro Controller go for as little as $55, and Joy-Con controllers could fall to $60 to $65, though we have seen a pair for as low as $56 this year on Newegg.
