people holding question marks

Hello, deal-seekers! Here at DealNews, we write plenty of buying guides to help you determine the best tips and tricks to use when purchasing items. But sometimes we receive questions that are outside that realm. Maybe they're more specific, or maybe they're about a topic like seeking help with customer service. Whatever the question, we've decided the best way to handle it is to let you all ask an expert!

When Can I Expect a Price Drop on the TV I Want?

The Dilemma

Good Day,

I have been tracking the cost of the Hisense 65" U8G model, which is currently $999 — and hasn't moved down from there in some time. Any ideas when, if ever, this might go lower?

Is there another TV with the same features I could consider and a lower price?

Thanks,

Our Advice

The TV in question is the U8 Series 65" 4K ULED Premium Hisense Android Smart TV from 2021. It earns high marks from reviewers who use it for activities like watching movies and sports, as well as playing video games and enjoying HDR media. This set can even serve as a PC monitor — albeit a massive one!

This Hisense TV has basically dropped to a standing price of $999.99, and we've mostly just seen very slight price drops beyond that.

When this Hisense TV was released, it had an MSRP of $1,299.99. Since then, it's basically dropped to a standing price of $999.99, and we've mostly just seen very slight price drops beyond that. For instance, in November last year, it dropped to $984.99 on Amazon before going back up again. The lowest we've seen it drop is to $899.99 on eBay in April 2022. A $100 drop isn't astronomical, but it's something. Even so, the discounts could theoretically get better.

When Will This Hisense TV Go On Sale?
While TV deals can pop up at any time of year, Black Friday remains the most reliable time to find good discounts on TVs. Given that this model is already a year old, the potential for excellent discounts for Black Friday 2022 is pretty high. However, in case a great deal does pop up before then, we suggest creating an alert on DealNews — that way you can set your desired price and receive a notification when we post a deal that matches your parameters.

Aside from that, it may be a good idea to sign up for a CamelCamelCamel account. Then you can track price fluctuations on the product, specifically ones from Amazon. You can also set alerts there, so if you're wanting to shop on Amazon in particular, this is a good way to keep an eye on the Hisense model without having to check every day yourself.

Is There a Backup Option to This Hisense Model?
If that price of $999.99 is too far outside of your current budget, the good news is there's a very comparable TV model you could consider. The Hisense H9G is from 2020, and Rtings.com suggests that it's a pretty similar set at a lower price. We're seeing it at just under $700 on Amazon; that's $300 less than the U8G. However, note that because it is an older model, it may be harder to find. Still, if you need a TV now and don't want to wait on the U8G to go on sale, the H9 is a solid pick you can grab immediately.
