  • Samsung 55" Smart 4K UHD LED TV for $398

We predicted Samsung might be one brand that would escape the tariff trouble this Black Friday, so it's encouraging to see this deal. The price is excellent for a name-brand, midsize set.

  • TCL/Sharp 65" Roku Smart 4K UHD LED TV for $398
Why Buy It: Fantastic price for a big-screen set

TCL and Sharp are solid mid-tier brands, which makes this a good Black Friday buy. If you're in the market for a new TV, under-$400 is an excellent price for a big-screen set.

  • Apple iPhone 8 with $400 Walmart Gift Card
Why Buy It: Best gift card deal we've seen with last year's iPhone

Walmart isn't the only retailer offering iPhones with gift cards in 2018, but this deal is hands down the best one we've seen for last year's models. It's available in-store only and requires qualified activation.

Looking for a bigger iPhone? This offer is also good on the iPhone 8 Plus and first-generation iPhone X.

  • Apple iPhone XS with $300 Walmart Gift Card
Why Buy It: Huge gift card deal on the latest iPhone

While it's true that the iPhone XS is the latest tech — and fairly pricey — a $300 gift card makes that price tag easier to handle. Plus, this is the best gift card offer we've seen for the newest iPhones. It's valid in-store only and with qualified activation.

Eyeing another flagship iPhone? This offer is also valid on the iPhone XS Max and is the only gift card deal we've seen on the iPhone XR.

  • Hisense 40" 1080p TV for $99
Why Buy It: Great price for a smaller screen

Frequently, we see 32" sets on Black Friday drop below $100, but if you're looking for a slightly bigger TV, this is a solid buy, especially if it's for something like a kid's room. Just remember, these super-affordable sets will sell out fast!

Treat your kids to new pajamas with their favorite characters for less than $5 each. This offer is available for boys, girls, toddler boys, and toddler girls in a variety of sizes and characters.

What to Expect From Walmart Black Friday Sales in 2018

Walmart is a huge player when it comes to Black Friday, though stories of the store's chaotic holiday atmosphere are a little overblown. Below, we've rounded up everything you need to know to make your Walmart Black Friday shopping easier.

Read on to see when Walmart's ad drops, when the sale really starts, and what kind of doorbusters you can expect.

When Will the Walmart Black Friday Ad Be Released?

Walmart tends to drop its Black Friday ad around two weeks before Thanksgiving. In 2016, the ad arrived on November 9, and last year it popped up on November 8. The trend continued this year, and Walmart again released its ad on November 8.

Will Walmart Be Open on Thanksgiving?

Walmart will be open on Turkey Day, but it'll give shoppers plenty of time to enjoy the holiday with family first. The retailer will host a Light Up Black Friday party for customers from 4 pm to 6 pm local time on Thanksgiving, giving away free coffee and cookies. It'll open its doors for shopping at 6 pm local time that day. Then it should remain open all day Friday.

When Does the Walmart Sale Start?

Walmart's Black Friday sale will begin online on Wednesday, November 21, at 10 pm ET. In-store doorbusters won't be available until 6 pm local time on Thanksgiving. Customers can shop select deals that day online.

When Is the Best Time to Shop?

The whole week of Thanksgiving should have plenty of deals, but the best day to shop will be Thanksgiving itself. In 2017, we listed twice the amount of Editors' Choice deals — and almost double the number of all offers — for Walmart on Turkey Day compared to Black Friday.

What Will Be on Sale?

Whether you shop on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or both, you should see many offers fall into the home and garden category. Expect everything from small appliances to bath accessories, decor (including select holiday items), and furniture to be on sale.

Look for deals on furniture, video games, and Google Home smart speakers.

Video games and toys will be another category full of strong deals on Thanksgiving at Walmart. You'll find offers on the hottest toys of the season, as well as on video games and select LEGO sets.

Unsurprisingly, Walmart should also boast a plethora of electronics deals. It'll have plenty of TVs on offer, along with sound bars and speakers. Walmart will also be a particularly good place to shop for Google Home smart speakers. In 2017, shoppers could snag a Google Home product bundled with a $25 credit for much less than list price.

What Will Be the Big Walmart Doorbusters?

TVs will definitely rank among Walmart's best doorbusters. In 2017, we saw brand-name TVs at notable lows, including an LG 49" 4K smart set for $328, which was a great price in general. The retailer also offered a Samsung 65" curved 4K smart set for $848. This was a can't-miss deal, as it beat our own predictions.

Streaming media players will also be common offerings. Walmart will have at least one exclusive Roku model this year, but even the models other stores carry could be cheaper at Walmart. The store has been known to drop prices by an extra couple of dollars to compete with other retailers. Prefer the Chromecast? The new 3rd-generation model has an MSRP of $35, but last year Walmart shoppers could grab a 2nd-gen one for $20, and that included a $5 Vudu credit.

Look for the latest phones to be bundled with higher gift card amounts, as well. In 2017, both Apple iPhones and Samsung devices were bundled with a $300 gift card when you signed up for a qualifying payment plan with AT&T or Verizon. What made the iPhone deal even better was that it was the only one we saw to include the iPhone X.

What You Should Know Before You Shop

Wherever you're planning to shop for Black Friday, you need a solid strategy so you can have a smooth experience. Here's what you need to know to plan for Walmart's popular sale.

  • When the sale starts: Doors will open on Thanksgiving at 6 pm, but the sale will begin online at 10 pm ET on Wednesday, November 21.

  • Time limitations: Doorbusters are available while supplies last. Walmart has done away with guaranteed doorbusters, so don't wait too long if there's one you really want.

  • In-store or online? Doors open at 6 pm local time on Thanksgiving. Last year, Walmart included a color-coded map for easier shopping in-store, and will do so again this year. The sale will launch online at 10 pm ET the day before Thanksgiving.

  • When the ad drops: The ad is out! Walmart released its Black Friday ad on November 8.

  • Best day to shop: Thanksgiving is the best day to shop, with twice the amount of Editors' Choice offerings and almost double the number of overall deals, when compared with Black Friday.
