Black Friday is this week, and now is the time for shoppers to put together their strategy for the holiday. Part of crafting that game plan is knowing what stores will be open on Thanksgiving, as well as what time stores will open on Black Friday. Many retailers have confirmed their Black Friday store hours, and for others, we can make educated guesses based on past years. And that's just what we've done!

What Time Do Stores Open on Black Friday?

Stores' opening times on Black Friday vary, but many welcome customers earlier than they do during the rest of the year. In 2022, Best Buy Black Friday hours began at 5 am, despite many locations opening at 10 am on other days. And Target opened at 7 am last Black Friday; many of their stores open at 8 am otherwise.

What Stores Are Closed on Black Friday?

The list of stores that close on Black Friday is short and tends to feature one prominent name: REI. The outdoor retailer has closed its doors for the shopping holiday since 2015, according to the company, and announced last year it would do so permanently.
