What to Expect From Star Wars Day Sales in 2023

How Long Do Star Wars Day Sales Last?

Look for most 2023 Star Wars Day sales and deals to run between Thursday, May 4, and Friday, May 5. Expect a handful of sales to stretch out to the end of the month.

Most Star Wars Day sales in 2023 should start on May 4, though some kicked off as soon as late April. For example, we saw Woot's May the 4th sale show up on April 27 this year. These holiday sales tend to be very short-lived, though. Last year, only about one-third of the Star Wars Day sales we tracked lasted beyond May 5, with the longest sale lasting until May 26. But many deals will only be available for 24 hours, so you may want to jump on any offers you find exciting.

What Will Be On Sale for Star Wars Day 2023?

On May 4, you can expect to find deals on every type of Star Wars merchandise you can think of. Sales start with the essentials, such as films, books, and video games set in the Star Wars universe. But Star Wars Day offers will also include much more, such as Star Wars clothes, toys, collectibles, jewelry, and even electronics. You can find big-brand toys like Star Wars LEGO and Star Wars Funko Pop! items, as well as high-end collectible figures from Sideshow.

Expect discounts on Star Wars-themed products to go as high as 82% off on May 4.

Some retailers even put out brand-new merchandise specifically for Star Wars Day. Last year, Disney released a new lineup of exclusive Star Wars plush toys, action figures, pins, clothing, and more specifically for May 4. Additionally, you can usually expect some exclusive Star Wars Day LEGO sets.

How Much Can You Save During Star Wars Day Sales?

The average Star Wars Day discount tends to be around 20% off, though last year we saw discounts as steep as 80% off. Here are the kinds of sales you can expect to find on Star Wars Day 2023:

  • Star Wars movies: 30% off Blu-rays from Amazon and Best Buy, with assorted digital titles on sale direct from Disney. Last year saw a particularly good sale, with the entire Skywalker Saga in 4K UHD Blu-ray for $159.99 from Best Buy.

  • Star Wars video games: Up to 80% off from Steam, Humble Bundle, Best Buy, GameStop, Microsoft, and Sony, and up to 82% off at stores like Fanatical. Look for steep discounts on slightly older games such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which we saw last year for just $15, while LEGO Star Wars titles were as low as $5.

  • Star Wars toys: Up to 50% off from major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and eBay, but you'll likely find sales on Star Wars toys at practically any retailer that offers them. Last year Build-A-Bear offered up to 30% off most of its Star Wars collection.

  • Star Wars LEGO: Up to 30% off from major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Target. However, the most exciting LEGO Star Wars Day sales may be exclusive sets directly from LEGO, such as the X-Wing Starfighter, which LEGO VIP members can order now.

  • Star Wars clothing: Up to 70% off everything from T-shirts to socks from big box retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart. But you'll also likely see plenty of deals from Disney itself, as well as from clothing-specific brands such as Hanna Andersson, Rock 'Em Socks, Her Universe, and Hot Topic.

  • Star Wars collectibles: Up to 25% off, with deals on high-end figures from Sideshow, replicas and costumes from Denuo Novo, and replicas and decor from Regal Robot.

  • Star Wars electronics and accessories: Up to 20% off accessories such as phone cases from OtterBox, Star Wars-themed PopSockets, Razer game controllers, and limited edition Seagate external SSD drives with Star Wars art.

  • Star Wars pet accessories: Up to $10 off Star Wars-themed toys, collars, and bedding for your pets from Petco and Chewy. Last year BarkBox even offered a limited edition Star Wars-themed box full of chew toys and treats for dogs.

  • Star Wars books: 25% off select eBooks directly from publishers Abrams or Del Rey/Penguin Random House, though last year some of these deals required a coupon code.

In short, if you want something Star Wars-branded, you can probably find it on sale for Star Wars Day.

What Won't Be On Sale for May the Fourth 2023?

Star Wars fans can find great May the Fourth sales, but not everything sees discounts. Here are a few things you probably won't find on sale:

  • Return of the Jedi movie tickets: While Return of the Jedi returned to select theaters starting on April 28 for the film's 40th anniversary, we don't expect movie tickets to go on sale. If you want to catch this in theaters, don't wait for Star Wars Day — buy tickets early.

  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor video game: This big-budget new Star Wars game came out on April 28, and it's unlikely sales will be available as early as May 4. Any deals on this game will likely be small ones at best. For example, Target is offering a $10 gift card with purchase of the game. If you want to get this game at a discount, know we'll probably start seeing significant savings during the holiday season.

  • Disney+ subscriptions: Though Disney+ is the home to all of the latest Star Wars shows, we don't expect to see any sales on subscriptions for the service.

Bookmark this page with Star Wars Day deals, as we'll be updating it with more offers when they pop up.
