It's going to come at a hefty price regardless, so it may only be worth it for the truly passionate football fan.

Streaming football is a complicated ol' thing. Some games are on Paramount Plus. Some are on Peacock. Others are where you least expect it: NFL Sunday Ticket, the official NFL streaming service. Unlike those other services, which might offer pretty aggressive discounts in the name of securing your subscription, Sunday Ticket can be stubbornly full-priced, at a steep $479. But let's see what we can do about that. From student discounts to smartphone perks to giving in and paying full price, all options are on the table. And these are those options.

Best NFL Sunday Ticket Deals

Store: Verizon
Price: Free with new Verizon line

You just can't beat free. But, paradoxically, when something is free that might have cost you close to $500 otherwise, that's even sweeter. And that's the situation with NFL Sunday Ticket when you buy a new phone on an Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plan.

Store: YouTube TV
Price: $199 per year

Being a student usually means living frugally, and that probably puts a $479 football streaming service out of reach. But what if it was $280 less than that? This is, at the very least, more affordable, and attainable when you verify your status as an actively-enrolled student via SheerID.

How Much is NFL Sunday Ticket?

Annoyingly: it depends! So we'll break it down for you:

  • NFL Sunday Ticket: On its own as a YouTube Primetime Channel, an NFL Sunday Ticket subscription can be purchased for $479 per year. In certain locations, you can opt instead for four monthly payments of $119.75.
  • NFL Sunday Ticket With YouTube TV: Bundle NFL Sunday Ticket with YouTube TV and you'll pay $158.99 per month for four months (a combined payment for both Sunday Ticket and YouTube TV) and then $72.99 a month for YouTube TV. That's a $35 savings on the first four months, an offer than ends on October 28.
  • NFL Sunday Ticket With NFL RedZone: If you're signing up for NFL Sunday Ticket with YouTube TV, you'll have the option of adding NFL RedZone to your subscription for an extra $10.99 a month. Each week, RedZone grants you "7 hours of live football coverage, featuring up to 8 games at once". You can also get a Sunday Ticket and Redzone subscription for $519 a year, or four monthly payments of $129.75.
  • NFL Sunday Ticket Student Plan: If you're a student, you get the edification of expanding your mind and furthering your education, whether in the name of career goals or the simple pursuit of knowledge. Also, keggers. Also Part 2, NFL Sunday Ticket for $199 a year.
  • NFL Sunday Ticket Military Price: Confirm your military status using Verify with ID.me, and you'll also get NFL Sunday Ticket for just $199 per year. This offer is open to active military and veterans, and can be redeemed through October 15.

How to Pay Less for NFL Sunday Ticket

There are a handful of ways to lower that faintly eye-watering cost of NFL Sunday Ticket. Two are already spelled out above, although they come with the not-insubstantial caveats of your needing to be an actively enrolled student, active military, or veteran, so perhaps not discounts that are as easy to redeem as a nice, simple coupon code.

Unfortunately, the reality is that savings on NFL Sunday Ticket will come mostly tied to another service: a smartphone purchase with a new Verizon line will get you a free subscription right now, for example. And in the past, we've seen similar offers for Verizon Gigabit internet, or Xfinity Internet + TV. If you're already planning on getting one of those services, though, getting NFL Sunday Ticket for free as part of the bargain is undoubtedly a substantial perk.

If you're currently paying for Max on a monthly basis, though, you can quit doing that, and opt for the NFL Sunday Ticket and Max bundle. Available until the end of this year, you'll get four months of Max for free with an NFL Sunday Ticket subscription. This doesn't exactly make Sunday Ticket any cheaper, but it does save you $17 a month on watching, and rewatching, Conan O'Brien Must Go. (After the promo ends, you'll be charged for Max at that $17 per month rate unless you cancel.)

How to Get NFL Sunday Ticket Access

Head over to the NFL Sunday Ticket page, and hit Choose a Plan. This will show you the Sunday Ticket and Sunday Ticket With YouTube plans — hit either "Get It Now" or "Get Both Now", depending on which one you're plumping for. This is where you'll choose yearly or monthly payments, as well as getting the chance to add RedZone.

It's extremely hard to definitively say whether a $479 subscription to anything is worth it. That's prime bread-buyin' money. We cannot answer that for you, however much we try. Hnnnngggh. That was the sound of us trying.
