Apple MacBook Pro Intel Core i5 2.5GHz 13.3" Widescreen Notebook with Retina Display
Store: Fry's Electronics
Price: $1,499 with free in-store pickup
Lowest By: $83
Is It Worth It?: The 3.6-lb. MacBook Pro with Retina display made a splash when it debuted this year, because of its unheard of 2880x1800 screen resolution and slimmer profile. The price tag however left some staggering. This deal offers one of the lowest prices we've seen, dropping an additional $50 since the beginning of November. Hardware-wise, it's packed with an Intel Ivy Bridge dual-core Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, and Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. On the connectivity front, it's the first MacBook Pro to feature the trifecta of USB 3.0, HDMI, and Thunderbolt. CNET says this system "covers a lot of our wish-list bullet points for a dream Air-Pro hybrid."

Apple MacBook Air Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 1.8GHz 13.3" Laptop
Store: Fry's Electronics
Price: $999 with about $11 s&h
Lowest By: $84Is It Worth It?: Although we saw this Apple's latest MacBook Air available for pickup in September (and this $11 less), this is the lowest total price we could find for the 3.3-lb. machine by $84. It also features an Intel Core i5 1.8GHz Ivy Bridge dual-core processor, 13.3" 1440x900 LED-backlit widescreen LCD, 4GB RAM, a 128GB SSD, AirPort Extreme (802.11n wireless), Bluetooth 4.0, Facetime camera, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0, and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.
Alternatively, this deal highlights the benefits to buying a previous-generation product. Just 16 months old, the Sandy Bridge-equipped Apple MacBook Air Intel Core i5 1.6GHz 11.6" LED-Backlit Laptop will cost you $699 with $13 shipping from PC Connection. And the only thing you have to relinquish for that price cut is the newer CPU, which some tech outlets have suggested is an omission that few consumers will even notice in terms of average performance. Additionally it features 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.
