Black Friday iPad deals are on their way, and we have all the info on current models and older versions still available for purchase. Read on for our predictions for 2023, and all the hints we can think of for saving on iPads this Black Friday.

What to Expect from iPad Deals in Black Friday 2023

We'll start with a brief overview of the iPad models likely to be on sale this Black Friday season.

The 2022 iPad Pro includes the Apple Pencil Hover feature, which allows you to quickly preview and switch between different tools and controls in supported apps. It also uses the Apple M2 chip. Look for iPad Pro Black Friday deals for 11" models, or the 12.9" version that features the Liquid Retina XDR display with extreme dynamic range, high contrast, and high brightness. Color options include Space Gray or Silver.

The iPad Mini (2021) is also expected to be on sale this Black Friday season. It features the A15 Bionic chip, an 8.3" liquid retina display, and fast 5G. It's available in four colors, including the perennial Space Gray, but also the more cheerful Pink, Purple, and Starlight (pony not included). It's compatible with the Apple Pencil 2, and its smaller size makes for a one-handed experience.

The 6th-generation iPad Air just launched and is available in five colors (all of the fun ones from the mini plus Blue). It's compatible with both the 2nd-generation Apple Pencil and the new more affordable Apple Pencil (USB-C). It uses Apple's M1 chip (same as 2021 iPad Pro models) and features a 10.9" Liquid Retina Display, 12MP ultra wide front camera, 8GB RAM and 16-core Neural Engine.

We still expect to find older version iPads on sale on Black Friday 2023, including the 5th-generation iPad Air and the 9th-generation iPad, which is still available at Apple.com, Amazon, and other retailers.

The 5th-Gen. iPad Air 64GB dropped to $500 last Black Friday, and you'll currently find it at Amazon for the same price, which is $99 less than Apple charges directly. The 9th-Gen iPad 64GB dipped to $270 around that time, but we've most recently seen it all the way down to $249 ahead of Black Friday 2023. The 11" iPad Pro (2021) made it down to $550 last November, which is impressive, considering the refurb we saw for just a buck less in June.

Black Friday iPad deals 2023 have begun, and we're already seeing deals on the 9th-Gen and 10th-Gen iPad, 5th-Gen iPad Air, 6th-Gen iPad Mini, and 2022 iPad Pro. We expect to see the full range of iPads on sale on Black Friday. iPad Pro Black Friday deals may have some of the deepest discounts, likely to be in the range of $200 to $400 off. iPad Air Black Friday prices could also be up to hundreds off list, which is significant, considering its already low price compared to the iPad Pro. iPad mini Black Friday deals tend to be less generous than iPad Air and iPad Pro Black Friday offerings, but at least a modest drop is to be expected.

2nd-Gen AirPods got as low as $80 at the end of October 2022, with most Black Friday prices hovering around $90. We're currently seeing prices as low as $99, so look for at least the $90 mark as Black Friday 2023 approaches, possibly lower.

Long ago, the iPad was a new gadget that would entice you to enter an Apple Store, or some other retail location, so you could get a feel for the hardware under the direct supervision of a knowledgeable employee who could answer all your questions. Fast forward to the present where everyone knows what an iPad does and we all just want to find the best price in the color we like. Sure, some of us might still enjoy the thrill of braving the crowds at an in-store iPad sale on Black Friday, but with Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and others listing their best prices online, you might as well research your preferred specs and find the best iPad Black Friday deals from the comfort of your own home or mobile device.

Expect iPad Black Friday sales to begin online and at retail locations certainly by November 24th and to linger at least through Cyber Monday. Note that some retailers have already started their early Black Friday deals and will be rolling lower prices out at various times in November. For example, Walmart begins its first Black Friday sale on November 8th online, with in-store offers beginning November 10th. Additional deals will follow at Walmart on the more traditional dates of November 22nd (online) and November 24th (in-store). They'll open at 5 AM. Best Buy's Black Friday is expected to begin sometime around November 19, but they'll be closed Thanksgiving Day. They traditionally open at 5 AM on Black Friday and close at 10 PM. Check the hours at your local Apple Store if you must have that hip Apple future-is-now vibe that all the cool kids are having.

iPad prices between Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been about the same, historically. Once the price comes down sometime in November, it hovers around that spot throughout the holiday shopping season. This was certainly the case for the 9th-Gen iPad 64GB model in November 2022. Its price dropped to $270 the week before Thanksgiving and stayed there through Cyber Monday. We have seen one exception to the stable November price, however. Last year, we saw a gift card valued at $30 or $50 bundled with select iPad models at Apple direct during their 4-day Cyber Monday event. If you can use the gift card, you may want to hold out for this sort of deal at Apple. Amazon had the best price for a 5th-Gen. iPad Air on Thanksgiving Day, so you might want to try them first if you're eager to get started on the holiday.

Price matching policies vary widely from store to store on Black Friday and throughout the year. Amazon does not offer price matching. Target will match the price of any item purchased online or in-store from Target that goes on sale through December 24th, but it doesn't apply to items purchased at other Target stores. Target will also match prices from select stores at the time of purchase, or within 14 days of purchase, but doorbusters and lightning deals will be excluded. Other exclusions may apply. Best Buy has a price match guarantee, but there is an exclusions list, specifically items for sale the Friday before Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving. Walmart doesn't price match against its competitors, but they will match the online price if the item is still available online. Some have claimed that Apple will price match up to 10% under certain conditions, but we couldn't verify the particulars. Visit an Apple Store or contact the Apple Contact Center at 1-800-676-2775 for more information.

From time to time, membership at certain stores can get you additional iPad-related savings. For example, Best Buy currently offers My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members 25% off a Logitech keyboard with select iPad purchases. Amazon frequently gives special discounts to Prime members, including on iPads, so it's definitely worth looking for Prime only deals for iPads around Black Friday. The Best ipad Black Friday deals at Costco and Sam's Club will of course require membership to avoid member-only restrictions and non-member surcharges.

You can expect most if not all iPad models to be discounted at least somewhat around Black Friday. We've seen the lowest prices on the full range of iPads, generally speaking, around Black Friday, although some models (particularly ones that Apple has upgraded) drop to even lower prices in the months that follow. This was the case with the 9th-Gen iPad, which dropped to $270 around Black Friday 2022 but currently sells for $249 as the 10th-Gen iPad takes over. Older models will always see this gradual decrease, but for current models, Black Friday is when you'll be most likely to see the best prices, until newer versions hit the market.

Shipping for iPads usually falls under the free shipping threshold at retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon. Apple.com also ships their iPads for free. Free shipping policies will most likely remain in effect during the Black Friday season. Shipping gets a little more interesting the closer it gets to Christmas, however. Stores will sometimes run some form of express shipping offer in order to receive items in time for the holiday. Membership will sometimes impact the availability of express shipping (2-day, next-day, etc.). Be sure to check for the best Black Friday iPad deals well in advance of December 25th in order to avoid any shipping hassles.

iPad Black Friday deals can be found several places online, and historically we've seen plenty of iPad offers at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy, among others. With so many retailers listing iPad deals around Black Friday, you'll want to check Dealnews to stay informed of the most current and best prices.

It's worth keeping an eye out for iPad deals the entire month of November. Some of the best discounts we've seen have begun a week or so before Black Friday. You can count on all of the major retailers listing their best iPad Black Friday sale between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, with some good deals continuing right up until the end of the year.
