Rumor Roundup: Apple iWatch? Another New iPad? Ben Affleck?

When the internet runs out of news, it starts making things up. We think this is funny, so we round up all the lies and speculation and put them here. We call it the "Rumor Roundup" and we do it all for you! This week:

  • Apple Working On a Watch?
Wearable computing is the next big thing that we had no idea we wanted until Apple tells us we've been waiting for it our entire lives. Distort my reality with a cool-looking timepiece! I'm ready! [CNET]

  • Will the Samsung Galaxy S4 Have a Linux OS?
Called TIZEN, it would be a departure from their relationship with Android ... and from easy-to-remember naming conventions. Tie-Zen? Tee-Zen? Tizzen? But, I kid. After all, we all thought Android was a joke at first, right? Wait... Android is standing right behind me, isn't he? Whoops! [International Business Times]

  • Next-Gen iPad Coming in March?
Owners of the 3rd-gen tablet, which were screwed over when the 4th-gen device was released only seven months after they bought their new precious, are surely smirking to themselves over this turn of events. Sure, it doesn't make their situation any better, but it's always comforting knowing that someone else got screwed worse than you did. The human condition! [Tech Spot]

  • Nexus 7 Tablet Price Will Drop to $99?
It was a hard decision to make: make it cheap, or make it as good as an iPad. Oh dear, Nexus 7 is standing behind me, isn't she?! (That's called a "call back" and it's used to get a cheap laugh, when I don't deserve one.) [Hot Hardware]

  • Ben Affleck to Run for Congress?
None more qualified than someone who served both in the Army and as a lawyer. Of course, some might try and convince you that Pearl Harbor and Daredevil are just movies that he starred in. But if that's the case, why would he have chosen those roles? [InRumor]

Jeff Somogyi is the dealnews Media Editor. He doesn't mean to disparage Ben Affleck's career, he's just making a joke. (Plus, after seeing The Town, he's pretty sure Ben could beat him up, so he wants it to be clear he's just having a bit of fun.) I've seen bracelets going around to convert a shuffle into a watch. Doesn't seem much of a stretch to just build the bracelet into the shuffle. Though, there would an issue with battery life.
