Thanksgiving is a month away, and if you haven't booked your flight yet, it's time to stop procrastinating. Today is your very last chance to buy your holiday plane tickets if you want to save money.
Seriously, Book Thanksgiving Flights TODAY
People usually travel for holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day over weekends. While that kind of travel tends to be easier to track, it's not the same for holidays like Thanksgiving. For Turkey Day, travelers could be flying out the week before, the day of, or even a few days after the holiday itself.
Airfare app Hopper recommends booking no later than one month before your departure in order to find a good price. And according to data from the travel site Expedia, the optimal window for booking and saving on flights this year ends on October 22. This means today is your last chance to find Thanksgiving airfare that won't make you weep. After today, you can expect prices to go up — and for you to pay more the closer it gets to your departure date.
A $271 Ticket Is a Good Deal
The best airfare prices can vary depending on the time of year and holiday. For Thanksgiving, Hopper expects $271 to be a good deal this year for most travelers. And if you happen to see cheaper flights than that, don't risk missing out. You should book right away!
For instance, a round-trip flight from Pittsburgh to Nashville, TN, costs only $189 at the time of this writing; you'd depart on November 20 and return on November 27. The ticket is $82 below Hopper's "good deal" price, so this is a prime example of a situation where it pays to book without delay!
