There is no chrome used during the production of the filters. The flakes that sometimes purge out in the NON-filtered water, are carbon flakes, which don't even make it into the filtered water, and are harmless. Also, there is ZERO glass used in the production of the filters. My Brita filters I used to use did the exact same thing, It's typical.
Ive used numerous zero water pitchers and dispensers for probably 8 years now…literally haven't had a single issue with their filters. My parents have used this system for several years, also with zero issues. My girlfriends parents have had this for who knows how long, also zero issues.
Most people cannot read and think these filters will last 4 years and then complain when the filter starts breaking down and tasting weird. Change the filter when your water reads >6ppm, and you won't have any problems.
Many reviews mention this filter releasing chrome flakes & glass shards into the supposedly filtered water...obviously very poor quality-control.
