Peacock is a streaming service that has a lot going for it, but given its price increases the last couple of years, some subscribers might be rethinking sticking with the service. While Peacock discounts exist for military members and other select groups, these aren't available to everyone. Even if you can take advantage of a promotion offering a lower price, it'll end eventually, and you'll be right back to paying full price.

If you've decided it's time to cut ties with Peacock, we have the details on how to do so below.

How to Cancel Your Peacock Subscription Through Peacock

If you subscribed through Peacock directly, you'll need to also cancel your Peacock plan directly. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Peacock account
  2. Go to Plans & Payments
  3. Select Cancel Plan
From there, you should see a confirmation message on the screen. You'll also receive a confirmation email, but it could take a few hours, so don't panic if you don't see it right away. Once completed, your plan will not renew at the end of your current billing cycle. Also note that you won't receive a refund or credit unless required by law when you cancel or downgrade your plan, so be sure to time your cancellation right.

From here, your cancellation should be processed, and you should receive a confirmation email shortly after completing these steps.

Apple

If you want to cancel Peacock after signing up through Apple, the steps to take will depend on which device you're using. If you're using an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, you can take the following steps to find and cancel your Peacock subscription:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap your name
  3. Tap "Subscriptions"
  4. Tap the Peacock subscription
  5. Tap "Cancel Subscription"
Note that you may need to scroll down to find the "Cancel Subscription" button. If you see an expiration message in red text or there is no "Cancel" button, that means the subscription has already been canceled.

If, on the other hand, you're canceling your subscription via a MacBook, you'll want to take the following steps:

  1. Open the App Store
  2. MacBook icons with App Store selected
  3. Click your name
  4. Apple App Store menu

  6. Apple App Store account settings

Note that you might need to scroll to find the "Cancel Subscription" button and if you don't see one, or you see an expiration message in red text, your subscription has already been canceled.

Roku

If you're using Roku for your Peacock subscription, there are a couple of ways to cancel your Peacock membership. If you want to cancel through the website, here's what to do:

  1. Sign in to my.roku.com and navigate to "My subscriptions"
  2. Under "Active subscriptions", choose your Peacock subscription
  3. Select "Manage subscription" and then select "Turn off auto-renew"
By turning off auto-renew, you're canceling your subscription so you won't be billed for it again. Once you've canceled, you should have access to it until the end of the current billing cycle.

If you're canceling a subscription via your Roku streaming device or Roku TV, these are the steps you'll need to take:

  1. Press the "Home" button on your Roku remote
  2. From the Home screen, use the arrow buttons on your remote to hover over and highlight your Peacock subscription
  3. Press the "Star" button on your remote
  4. Select "Manage subscription" to view the renewal date and access additional options
  5. Select "Turn off auto-renew"
Note that if you don't see the option to view the renewal date, your Peacock subscription isn't managed through Roku. However, if it is and you've opted to turn off auto-renew, then you can choose to remove the app immediately or keep it for the remainder of the subscription term.

Verizon

If you're managing a Peacock subscription through Verizon, you'll find more info on this support page. Note that to manage subscriptions through Verizon, you'll have to use the +play service, which is free for eligible Verizon customers.

If you want to cancel your Peacock subscription through +play, here are the steps to take:

  1. From a web browser, sign in to My Verizon
  2. From the "My Verizon Home", navigate to Account, then +play
  3. Click "Manage" at the top
  4. From the "Active" section, click "Manage" below the applicable subscription
  5. From the "Manage" section, click "Cancel subscription"
  6. Review the info and then click "Remove"

What Happens to Your Peacock Account When You Cancel on +play?

Once you cancel Peacock through your +play account, the account with Peacock will also be deactivated. However, it's worth noting that in most cases when your account is deactivated, your account information will be preserved with the content provider.

What Happens to Your Peacock +play Subscription if You Cancel Verizon?

If you cancel your Verizon plan, the good news is that you can continue to use +play and manage your subscriptions through the My Verizon website. The only thing to note is that your +play subscriptions will continue, but you may not be eligible for the perks and promotions that were available with your Verizon account any longer.

Other key things to keep in mind are that if you use your Verizon number as your username, you'll need another username when you cancel your Verizon plan. Additionally, if your subscription prices were tied to your Verizon plan, the monthly prices will change to stand-alone pricing. Once you cancel, you should receive email instructions on how to continue using +play.

What Happens If You Cancel a +play Subscription Mid-Billing Cycle?

If you cancel your Peacock subscription mid-billing cycle, you won't receive a refund or credit for a partial period of service. You'll still have access to the service through the end of the billing period, since you paid for the cycle already.

Xfinity

If you signed up for Peacock through Xfinity X1, Xumo Stream Box, or Xfinity Flex TV Box, you'll be billed by Xfinity. Because of that, if you're looking to change your plans, you'll need to cancel Peacock through Xfinity with the following steps:

  1. View your subscription status
  2. Select Unsubscribe
  3. On the second page, select "Unsubscribe" to continue
Once you take these steps, you'll still have access to your subscription through the date displayed. You'll also no longer be charged.
