When using one, do what you can to close up your crawlspace. I glued insulation foam board over the vents under my house, caulked joints/gaps and filled any holes in the block where air could get in with Great Stuff (or equivalent). Then use a duct to get the dehumidified air toward the center of your crawlspace so you can leave the unit closer to the access for easy maintenance. I have a different brand, but to reduce short-cycling I moved the humidity sensor from behind the filter to the outside and attached it to the grill with a little wire tie. The air behind the filter would read a false high humidity when the fan shut off because of the wet coils.
