Best Black Friday Android Phone Ads 2018

  • Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S9 Android Smartphone for $200 off at Best Buy
Why Buy It: Save big with no sign-up required

A lot of the smartphone deals we see for Black Friday require activation on a carrier's plan. Fortunately, if you want Samsung's flagship, you can snag the S9 unlocked for $200 off.

Looking for a bigger phone? You can also grab an unlocked Galaxy S9+ or Galaxy Note9 with this offer.

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 + $300 Walmart Gift Card at Walmart
Why Buy It: Latest model with a hefty gift card

If you don't mind being tied to a carrier, this is a smart way to snag Samsung's flagship smartphones for less. The deal is available in-store only and requires qualified activation.

Looking for a different phone? This offer is also valid on the Samsung Galaxy S9+, Samsung Galaxy Note9, Samsung Galaxy S8, and Samsung Galaxy S8+. (Note that similar offers are available at Target.)

Black Friday Android Phone Deal Predictions

  • Android will see more discounts across the board than Apple iPhones
  • Android deals may run through December
  • You could get the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ for $150 off

There are two reasons Android phones are going to be significantly easier to shop during Black Friday. First off, Android phones will see more discounts across the board when compared with Apple iPhones.

Secondly, you don't actually have to storm the castle on Black Friday to score these offers. Several big Android deals ran through December in 2017. Plus, we saw more deals online than in person last year.

What's more, we'll see a variety of new Android phones released this season. And there'll be corresponding discounts to their previous models:

  • Moto Z3 and Z3 Play (watch for discounts throughout the entire Z2 line)
  • Google Pixel 3 (watch for discounts on the Pixel 2)
  • LG V40 ThinQ (watch for discounts on the V30)
  • Huawei Mate 20 (watch for discounts on the Mate 10 Pro)

The recently announced Google Pixel 3 is a new smartphone you should keep your eye on this Black Friday. While the Pixel 3 will likely be offered at list price ($799), it could come bundled with bonuses.

While the Pixel 3 will likely be offered at list price ($799), it could come bundled with bonuses.

Last year, the Pixel 2 also debuted in October. By Black Friday, it was bundled with a Google Home Mini and a $100 gift card at list price. We expect similar packages for the Pixel 3 this year. There's also a slight possibility we could see this phone bundled with the brand-new Pixel Stand, which allows the Pixel 3 to be charged wirelessly.

If you'd rather shop last year's model, the Pixel 2 could drop to $400 for an unlocked model. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel had a starting price of $649, and when the Pixel 2 was released, the Pixel dropped to $400 by Black Friday.

Notably absent from the new phone lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S10, currently code-named "Beyond." Given the S9's poor sales numbers and the upcoming S10 release, look for steep Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ discounts. Last year Amazon, Microsoft Store, B&H Photo Video, and Best Buy all offered $150 off the S8 and S8+, so you'll probably get about the same deal on the S9 at multiple stores.

Given the poor sales numbers and the upcoming S10 release, look for steep Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ discounts.

Various retailers ran an assortment of trade-in deals last year, and almost none of them were worth it. For example, Samsung gave you up to $300 for your phone when buying an S8, but why go for that when you can sell your phone on Gazelle or Swappa instead? Also, Target gave people a $300 gift card for the same S8.

A final warning: Many carriers offer discounts when you agree to pay your phone off on an installment plan. But some carriers won't let you pay them off early without paying full price. This is especially true if you're "leasing" your phone (looking at you, Sprint). If your plan is to buy a phone and immediately pay it off, check the fine print.
