2) Clever of Whirlpool to create a sub-brand to cover all its collected brands of appliances. And *imply* you might be saving money by not buying the appliance-branded and crazy expensive filter.
3) If you have easy access to the water supply line to your fridge, whether behind or even better, underneath in the basement, save a lot of money by dumping the in-fridge filter. Reinstall the dummy-filter-plug that came with the fridge (an inexpensive part if you lost it) and install an easy to do third party inline filter in the supply line outside the fridge. There are many alternatives available, even with higher capacities. You'll never again be tied to the more costly OEM or OEM compatible in-fridge filters.
