Fortunately, a handful of merchants have relaxed their return policies for the holidays, giving consumers until January to make any returns, or up to 30 additional days. Below we've got a cheat sheet of stores that are and aren't offering extended return periods. Holiday Return Policies 2011 Return Policy Restocking Fee Non-Refundable Items Return Shipping Items shipped by Amazon between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 may be returned until Jan. 31 for a full refund (subject to return guidelines). Up to 20% from Authorized Sellers (unless the item is damaged or the return is the result of an Amazon error) Varies. Grocery products and personal care items can't be returned; however, Amazon will issue a full refund for damaged products sold by Amazon. Paid by customer (unless the return is the result of an Amazon error) Items bought between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24 that normally have a return window of less than 90 days, can be returned within that time frame beginning on Dec. 26. N/A Varies by department. Walmart's No Receipt Policy requires items be returned in-store only, for a cash refund (for items under $25), a gift card (for items over $25), or an even exchange. If the customer has returned more than three items without a receipt within a 45-day period, a Walmart manager must approve the return.
