Will You Shop Amazon's Prime Day Sale in 2018?

Let us know by taking our survey!
Amazon Prime tape

Prime Day 2018 hasn't officially been announced yet, but we still have a good idea of when to expect it. Amazon has hosted it in July the last three years, so it should fall right around the same time this year.

In light of the recent price increases for both annual and monthly Prime memberships, we're curious about what our savvy shoppers think of Prime Day. Did you shop last year? Will you shop the holiday this year? Will you even renew your Prime membership?

Take our short Prime Day survey, and let us know what you think of Amazon's big event!

I don't use Prime exclusively but I use it a lot, and most of the time it does have the cheapest price for the stuff that I tend to buy. However, what appeals to me more is getting my Prime purchases in just two days. Plus we use the Fire stick for Prime TV. I think that for me, the Prime membership is definitely more than worth the yearly fee that I pay.

IMO, only a fool would pay a company a fee for free shipping. Wake-up people... You're the buyer and you should make the rules... No free shipping... Shop elsewhere... Period.

I did take the survey but also have my concerns about the politically correct #3. I urge you to do as jmquinn72 stated and get rid of it.
jmquinn72
I was going to take the survey, but they've managed to use the survey to push an agenda with the first question:

How do you identify?
1) Male
2) Female
3) Other
4) Prefer not to answer

Get rid of #3.

i have already taken my business somewhere else. I love Amazon but not the new price for membership. I only shop there if I have too. Prime Day is not exciting to me so no shopping.

I will check it out to see if anything on my wish list is on sale.

They dump so much more crap from China into their "Prime sales", that it's almost impossible to find anything good.

Everybody here replying will shop Prime Day. We are all bargain hunters. It is in our nature. We can't resist. Now purchasing something might be a different story....

Almost every time I've checked prices, I've found the item I was looking for cheaper somewhere else other than Amazon. When the Prime priced increased, that was my signal to move on. Prime day has been a joke in the past, maybe it will be better this year.
G-Money
Probably if anything good. Honestly the increase in membership is nominal.
fontan16
The price increase won't effect my current membership. The increase membership by 20%-100% doesn't matter for me because I'm buying so much stuff from Amazon and extra hundred bucks per year won't make any difference for my budget. I will consider my membership if the membership will exceed $500 per year.
TimKridel
No. Letting my membership lapse in November.
dada_pat
Prime day is fake day, you get same price after couple of weeks or from other online vendors. People buy useless products and never use them. If you can buy without Prime membership then why we have to pay for just Prime only products?
BboJim
Was able to renew for $99 this year, so I did
rmilas
With Amazon owning Ring it could be a chance to score a good deal on ring products.

JB won't get a dime from me.

I'll keep my Prime student membership going. It's only half the cost of the regular membership. When I'm no longer a student I'll reevaluate. My family purchases a lot from Amazon, but is still very careful to check prices elsewhere before pressing that "confirm" button - even with the Subscribe N Save items (prices on these items change, too). Sometimes buying from Amazon makes sense; other times it doesn't. Like anything else, it's up to the consumer to know what they're buying before they buy it.

As I've said before when I could piggyback on those with Prime subscriptions and forgo all of the other stuff that went with it, it was a good deal for both me and the subscriber. I actually used my option quite a bit. Since that option was scuttled by Amazon, I look elsewhere for my purchases. Sometimes it is even less expensive for the same item or an alternative.

I wasn't happy paying $100/year for Amazon Prime and it was not wise for me to do as I did not get that much benefit from joining. Since they raised the price I will cancel my Amazon Prime. Too often when I make a purchase through them it ends up being a Chinese made knock-off and it just isn't worth the hassle any longer.
java10
Certainly not. Amazon is convenient, but far from a good deal.
I hope anti-trust action breaks Amazon up.
ponagathos
No, I let my Prime Membership end over a year ago and those Prime day sales were always terrible anyway.

Outside of the holiday shopping season, it is the most reliable time to nab the lowest price on Amazon electronic goods (e.g., the various Echo models, Fire tablets, Fire TV).
maydepot
Nope. They never have anything worthwhile on sale.
