This Week's Rumor Roundup: Gears of War, AppleTV, Verizon, more

Kick it:
  • Comcast to buy NBC for $35 billion?
At this point, 34 of those billions are for the value of 30 Rock, alone.
  • No Gears of War 3 for current consoles?
Developing a game for next-gen consoles that don't exist? How ... interesting. Next idea: Let's develop heated, nano-technology seat covers for flying cars.
  • BlackBerry Storm 2 for sale on October 25?
How do you change people's perceptions of a less-than stellar release? Offer a second one! That way, you only have to make a slightly better product and people will applaud it as a triumph. It's the Attack of the Clones gambit. Don't be fooled.
  • Verizon to buy DirecTV?
From a satellite in space, no one can hear you now.
    Get it?
Yeah... that was a really bad joke.
  • Fancy-pants remote coming for the AppleTV?
Yes, because Apple is clearly letting the device slide gracefully into end-of-life, it's gonna totally build the most awesome controller of all time for it. Next idea: Let's develop heated, nano-technology seat covers for the Model T.
