Best Black Friday iPhone Deals 2018

Black Friday iPhone Deal Predictions

  • If you buy from Apple, expect full-price iPhones paired with a gift card
  • Stores like Walmart offer up to $300 in gift cards with last year's iPhones
  • T-Mobile could have buy one, get one deals on select models

Apple offered mediocre Black Friday specials in 2017, and we don't expect 2018 to be different. You'll probably see full-price phones with a $25 to $100 Apple gift card at best.

However, big-box retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Best Buy often have discounts on last year's iPhone, usually in the form of gift card deals worth $100 to $300.

Black Friday iPhone deals started on Thanksgiving last year. If you can tear yourself away from turkey, you can score a deal.

Apple introduced three new iPhones in September — including the "budget" iPhone XR, which starts at $749. Traditionally, we don't see big drops on brand-new iPhones, but we should see steep discounts on iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models, and maybe on the first-generation iPhone X. Big-box retailers will often offer gift cards in lieu of discounts.

All of the carriers will likely offer some kind of deal on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, but especially watch T-Mobile. The carrier has been aggressively adding network capacity, and it had a buy one, get one deal on the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and 8 around Black Friday last year. T-Mobile is unlikely to beat AT&T and Verizon on sheer coverage, but you probably won't see a better deal than a BOGO iPhone.

A final note: Black Friday iPhone deals started on Thanksgiving Day last year. If you can tear yourself away from family, turkey, and football, you can score a deal.
