What's that old saying about looking gift horses in the mouth? We've never received a gift horse, but that's beside the point: When you receive something for free, it's not polite to nitpick. Regardless, we don't think anyone will be inclined to complain about the five offers we've collected for today's roundup of freebies. After all, you can get free doughnuts, waffles, sandwiches, and more. This is our gift to you, and we give it freely.
Is It Worth It?: Here's an especially good offer if you happen to have a dozen different sweethearts (which may not exactly be in the spirit of Valentine's Day, but we're not going to judge you for it). When you purchase a dozen doughnuts at participating Krispy Kreme locations, you'll receive 12 Valentine's Day cards, each of which is good for a free doughnut of the recipient's choice. Come to think of it, you can also give all 12 cards to the same person — that's probably what Krispy Kreme had in mind in the first place.
Is It Worth It?: As befits its amusing, Swedish, and customer-friendly image, IKEA has a fun and multifaceted variety of offers coming up on March 9 involving some free stuff. On that date, at various locations, IKEA will have a BYOF (Bring Your Own Friends) Day. Just RSVP via Facebook to secure a printable coupon for a free IKEA reusable blue bag and another one good for a free small breakfast before 11 am. (Choose your nearest store from the drop-down menu and select "Events and Activities" on the left-hand side of the page.)
Other promotions on the day vary by location but include free food samples, free coffee, product discounts, and the chance to win a $200 IKEA gift card. And even if you can't make it to IKEA on March 9, for each RSVP to BYOF Day, IKEA will donate $1 to Save the Children Early Steps for School Success Program.
Is It Worth It?: For a glorious, golden carb indulgence, head to the nearest Waffle House with this printable coupon in hand to receive a completely free "classic" waffle. Toppings will be extra, but you can't go wrong with just basic maple syrup. Better hurry though, as the best freebie we've seen from Waffle House since last February is only valid through today. Only dine-in orders are eligible for the discount.
Is It Worth It?: This free offer requires that you pay shipping — and yet, a free custom shirt is hardly anything to sneeze at, is it now? Vistaprint has a bunch of pre-fabricated designs to choose from, and all you have to do is supply the text (and in some cases, a picture). Only front printing is included in the price; additional customization is available for an extra cost. The shirt is available in sizes from S to XL, while XXL costs an additional $1.99.
Is It Worth It?: For many people — this writer included — the Chicken Sandwich is the best thing on Burger King's menu. So how lovely to learn that, at participating Burger King locations, your purchase of a Chicken Sandwich will net you a second one for nothing at all, an offer worthy of an Editors' Choice. (Any combination of the Original, Philly, or Italian Chicken Sandwich is eligible.) While we've seen similar offers before, this is among the best.
Meanwhile, Pei Wei is offering a comparably good offer: purchase one entrée and get a second entrée for free with this printable coupon — all you have to do is enter your email address. The BOGO coupon will be emailed to you within one business day. It expires February 17.
