Some people embrace the summer by heading outdoors, but for those of you who prefer to stay cool indoors, these Editors' Choice video game deals should keep you busy. It's time to rekindle your love for Sonic the Hedgehog, Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, and more. And remember, there are always more great games to be found in our daily list of video game deals.
Is It Worth It?: There's nothing like a good, fast-paced platformer video game, and the Sonic the Hedgehog series is one of the best. Released in late 2011, Sonic Generations is "potentially the series' most interesting entry," says CNET. Own your copy now for PlayStation 3 (pictured) or Xbox 360 for $14.99.
Is It Worth It?: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City takes us back to 1998, when Tetris and Titanic ruled the world. The popular Resident Evil franchise offers the state of the art in mutation-frenzied gameplay. According to Destructoid, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City provides "a genuinely good time that should satisfy anybody looking for a hardcore romp." Snap up Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for PlayStation 3 (pictured) or Xbox 360 for $9.99. And then — look out behind you!
Is It Worth It?: In this installment, the historical action-adventure Assassin's Creed series takes users to Istanbul (or is it Constantinople?) in the year 1511. As the title of the new edition suggests, you will learn much more about the war between the Templars and the Assassins. Assassin's Creed: Revelations is "a unique and engaging experience" with a "seemingly endless array of brutal combat animations," says G4TV.
Is It Worth It?: From id Software, makers of the industry-changing games Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, comes a scintillating new shooter called Rage. Digital Trends called Rage "one of the best games of the year," and it can be yours for hours of entertainment for a whopping $5.99. Technology moves forward, and it's an open question whether id Software has kept pace. But it sounds to us like if you enjoyed Doom back in the day, you'll enjoy this too.
Is It Worth It?: Steel Diver is an inventive side-scrolling action game with a submarine motif that IGN says has "a commendably unique and engaging concept." There are multiple play modes, including a fun periscope POV mode.
