The Pirates Have Spoken: Fantasy Was Way Better Than Reality in 2013

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence joined the fantasy gang, too.

The torrents have been counted and the pirates have spoken: 2013 was the year of the fantasy genre. The folks over at Torrent Freak recently released their lists of the most pirated films and TV shows of the year, and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Game of Thrones each took home the gold in their respective categories. (Well, considering that their studios didn't see a dime from either of these downloads, no one took home any gold per se... what we mean is that these giant franchises won. Or lost?)

Other film "winners" included similarly big, action-type fare, although somehow Silver Linings Playbook snuck in at number five. To see the complete list of the most pirated TV shows and movies, click over to Torrent Freak. Readers, do you think this sort of list is an indication of what films and shows were actually the most popular of the year, or do more traditional ratings and sales methods reign supreme?
