Home Depot is beloved by any devout DIY-er, and saving there is easy if you know the ins and outs. We’ve gathered up various ways to get discounts and codes, plus tips and resources for successful shopping at this home improvement megastore.
Home Depot offers a Low Price Guarantee online or in-store and will match the prices of competitors. Online, the guarantee applies to the price of the item along with shipping costs. If you find a lower price at a website that ships to your location, contact Home Depot to request the match. Home Depot will verify the online price. In-store, bring a circular, printout, or photo of an identical, in-stock item at a lower price and show it at the register. The associate may contact the competitor for confirmation.
The Home Depot Return Policy states that most new, unopened products can be returned or exchanged in-store or returned online within 90 days of purchase. (Select product types are limited to 30 days and some items are non-returnable.) Home Depot cardholders have a full year to make a return.
If you return in store, you will need your receipt or shipping confirmation email, the credit card used for the purchase, and a valid I.D. If you lost your receipt, Home Depot may be able to locate it in their system if the purchase was made with a credit or debit card. Otherwise, returns without a receipt may get a store credit at the lowest advertised price.
To return online, click the Return Items button on the Returns page or call customer service. For eligible returns, you will get a shipping label by email that you can attach to your package before dropping it off at a UPS location. Original shipping charges are refunded if the return is being made due to a Home Depot error.
Home Depot offers free shipping on most purchases of $45 or more, although there may be exclusions based on size or weight limits. Major appliances get free delivery if your order is $396 or more; otherwise, opting for free in-store pickup is best to avoid hefty charges for shipping heavy or large items like furniture.
We keep up with the latest Home Depot sales, deals, and coupons as they become available, but beyond these special, limited-time offers there are more everyday ways to get savings.
Shop the Special Buy Savings page to find the Special Buy of the Day , which consists of multiple daily deals that you can get today only. You’ll also find Special Buys of the Week for select departments. These short-lived offers will often give deeper discounts than usual if you catch something you want to buy, so it’s always worth taking a look.
If you have any issues with an order, there is a wealth of information on the Home Depot Help and Customer Service Center page . If you need to contact Home Depot customer support, these are the primary ways:
Phone: 1-800-430-3376 for online order support or 1-800-HOME-DEPOT (466-3337) for in-store purchase support
Text: 38698 (standard carrier rates apply)
You can typically get a discount on your first purchase if you open a new Home Depot Consumer Credit Card Account account. Currently, you’ll get $25 off $100, $50 off $300, or $100 off $1,000 or more on a purchase made within 30 days. Getting a card also allows everyday access to six-month interest-free financing on purchases of $299 or more, or other special financing offers of up to 24 months during special promotions. Additionally, a variety of product discounts are made available exclusively for cardholders and you’ll get one year to make returns instead of the standard 90 days.
The Home Depot Project Loan card is another option that gives a line of credit up to $55,000 for larger projects and renovations. This type of account has a 7.99% fixed APR, no annual fee, and a 6-month buying window with up to 84 months to pay.
If you are a contractor or professional, check out the Home Depot Commercial Card options. These are designed especially for business needs and include the option to authorize employees to use the account.
A variety of perks are available for contractors and professionals through Home Depot Pro . You can sign up for the Pro Xtra loyalty program to get exclusive benefits and savings for Pros, such as volume pricing and paint discounts. You can also sign up for Home Depot Pro mobile alerts to get a $5 coupon along with product updates and exclusive discounts and offers.
Although not advertised on their website, it is widely known that Home Depot offers a 10% discount on up to $500 by presenting a valid military ID at the register in-store. We’ve confirmed that one of our staffers has indeed been successful at getting this discount.
The Home Depot Savings Center lists out all current specials in one place, so it’s a great idea to check here frequently for current category, department, or brand savings. You can go directly to the Special Buy of the Day page from here, as well as find handy links to special savings like New Lower Price items, Overstock deals, Special Buy products, and Bulk Price discounts.
Sign up for Home Depot email and text alerts and get a $5 promo code for your next $50 in-store purchase. Plus, you’ll get more saving opportunities, project ideas, and how-to guides if you stay subscribed (you can opt out at any time).
If you’re especially interested in the art of planting, you can get the same discount by signing up for The Home Depot Garden Club . You’ll be informed of gardening projects and tips for your region, plus you’ll get notified of up to $300 in savings annually.
If you prefer home fashion, you can opt for The Home Depot Style & Decor emails. You’ll get 10% off select furniture, home accents, bedding, and bath items just for signing up. If you enter your physical address as well, you’ll receive their decor catalog by mail.
Using the Home Depot Subscriptions program, you can subscribe to products you purchase frequently and get a 5% discount. The eligible items include cleaning supplies, air filters, batteries, garden care products, light bulbs, and more.
It hasn’t been common of late for Home Depot coupons to include sitewide dollar- or percent-off coupon codes that are available to any customer. We more often see codes that apply to specific categories or product types, mainly decor, bed and bath, small appliances, furniture, and similar items for the home. There are a handful of these released every month, so they’re always worth checking for if you plan to shop for these types of items.
General-use discounts may become available to certain customer types, such as program members or new subscribers to text or email alerts. If these discounts are eluding you, consider checking Home Depot coupons for sale on eBay to bid on a coupon. Just be sure to look over the coupon exclusions for what you plan on buying and don’t overpay for the discount you are getting.
After adding an item to the cart, click to view the cart. On the right side of the cart, click the “Have a promo code?” option under the Total. Enter the code and click Apply. You will see the discount immediately, or an error message to let you know that the code doesn’t apply to your order.
If you get this error message, keep in mind that codes are case sensitive, so be sure to copy and paste it exactly. When using copy/paste, make sure you don’t have any blank spaces entered before or after the code. If you are sure it is entered correctly, you may have hit upon an exclusion or the coupon code may be expired. You can always contact Home Depot for further assistance if needed.
