A crisp button-down and dark wash jeans will never go out of style.

We scanned the discounts and picked out 10 items that look a lot more expensive than they really are — which should help the wallet of anyone needing to restock their closet.

Best Things to Buy During Old Navy's Sale

The Perfect Jeans

Old Navy Men's Flex Slim Distressed Jeans for $25 ($20 off)

A straight cut pair of jeans in a dark wash can easily bounce between casual and more formal outfits.

Comfy and Work Appropriate

Old Navy Women's Ponte-Knit Shift Dress for $19 ($16 off)

The slightly thicker weight of ponte material makes this dress a professional option that still has the comfort of a T-shirt.

A Crisp Classic

Old Navy Men's Regular-Fit Classic Shirt for $20 ($10 off)

A crisp Oxford doesn't have to be stuffy; roll up the sleeves, then pair it with the aforementioned jeans and slip-on shoes for an easier look.

It Doesn't Get Cheaper Than This

Old Navy Women's Classic Marled V-Neck Sweater for $6.99 ($23 off)

It's frankly unbelievable that you can get a sweater in multiple colors, in so many size options, for a mere $7. The V-neck cut is flattering to boot.

Classy Casual

Old Navy Men's Sueded Mid-Top Shoes for $28 ($12 off)

When you don't want to don a tight pair of dress shoes, but sneakers just won't cut it, then these lace-ups should do nicely.

Stretchy Skinny

Old Navy Women's Mid-Rise Built-In-Sculpt Rockstar Jeans for $25 ($25 off)

For many women, jeans with stretch are a must! Snag a pair made with 3% spandex in a skinny cut and unexpected stone color.

Dress Up Your Tee

Old Navy Men's Button-Front V-Neck Cardigan for $22 ($23 off)

Instead of wearing just your favorite tee, toss this cardigan on as well for a more pulled-together look.

Easy Preppy Style

Old Navy Women's Classic Twill Shirt for $18 ($9 off)

Pair this twill button-down with skinny jeans and a pair of bright flats (and maybe a gold chain bracelet for good measure) to exude polished preppy style.

Popular Booties for Less

Old Navy Women's Faux-Leather Side-Zip Boots for $24 ($21 off)

Considering many stores sell identical-looking boots for hundreds more, these saddle-colored ankle boots are a steal.

It's All About Layers

Old Navy Men's Mock-Neck Sweater-Knit Fleece Jacket for $18 ($22 off)

A stand-up collar is a simple way to make a casual jacket look sharp. This lightweight fleece is also good for layering.

Lindsay, I never said that I'm not a fan of Old Navy. The title of your article says "These 10 items prove you can dress sharply for less than $30." The other articles you mention highlight the specific retailer they are written about by name. I clicked on your article thinking that I would see a variety of items by a variety of retailers. That is not the case. The title also suggests that you can dress sharply for $30 meaning that one could put an entire outfit together by your suggestions for $30. That also is not the case.

I am not suggesting that your recommendations are not well founded. I actually own the jeans, the cardigan, the regular fit classic shirt and the fleece jacket you mention in your article.

I would however suggest that you revisit the title of your article. "10 sharp items that you can get from Old Navy for less than $30" might be a better fit.

Deal News is in essence an advertisement website of great deals. The articles contained within are as well.

@CinciShopper ... if you're not a fan of this one.

(Accidentally sent the previous comment before finishing the last sentence, haha.)

@CinciShopper Not an advertisement! We've been curating the top picks from a variety of sales -- we also did Sur La Table, Nordstrom Rack, Banana Republic, and Costco yesterday -- and the overwhelming theme for Old Navy seemed to be: you can buy a lot of items that look sharper than their price tag would suggest.
