It feels like we're in the eye of a freebie storm here at DealNews. We've already told you about the things you should always get for free and ways to score free stuff on your birthday, but today we're highlighting another fabulous form of freebie: the sample.

This week, we've seen an unusually high concentration of free sample deals popping up, from brands like Finish, Lipton, Murad, and more. We've rounded those deals up for you below, but first let's talk about what you're getting when you sign up.

What is a Free Sample?

It's true, nothing in life is actually free. Companies are happy to give out samples — in exchange for lots of details about you. Usually, you'll fill out a form that asks you to provide information like your home address, gender, date of birth, the number of people in your household, and your interest in that company's products. These questions will be used to tailor mailed and emailed advertisements to your family. It goes without saying that if you don't want a company to provide advertisers with your info, or if you hate receiving junk mail, then don't sign up for samples.

Once you've sent away for a sample, it's time to play the waiting game. Samples can take weeks or even months to arrive, but at least you're not paying for postage. Once you get your sample, give it a try! You'll usually receive enough product for one or two uses, although some beauty companies provide so-called "deluxe samples" that can be as large as travel-size items.

Now that you know what to expect, let's see the samples!

The Week's Best Free Samples

  • Finish Dishwashing Tablets
How to get it: Fill out a short form to try these dishwashing tabs, which is the only free sample we've seen from Finish this year. There's no information available about how long it'll take to arrive, so you'll be pleasantly surprised!

  • Lipton Tea K-Cup 2-Pack
How to get it: This sample requires a little more work, but you'll score two Lipton iced tea K-Cups for your efforts. Click over to Walmart and watch a short video. Afterwards, you'll need to click the button to open a pop-up window with a short form for you to fill out, and then you're done! Your K-Cups will arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Murad Acne Clearing Solution
How to get it: Hate waiting? This is one sample you'll love! Provide your name and email address to Murad and they'll instantly set you up with a free sample voucher that you can redeem at your local Sephora store. That's tied with our April mention as the best freebie we've seen from Murad and a great offer for this specialized product.

  • L'Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare
How to get it: This L'Oreal offer gives you a choice between three different hair care samples: Color Vibrancy, Total Repair Extreme, or Volume Filler. Just pick your product and fill out the short form; you'll receive the desired sample in 8 to 12 weeks.

  • Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix
How to get it: Feeling a little under the weather? Fill out a short form to score a sample of this fizzy, orange-flavored supplement. There's no word on when you'll receive your sample though, so maybe call the doc instead of waiting if you're actually sick.

  • Poise Liners or Pads
How to get it: Buying pads for bladder leakage is probably not the easiest first-time purchase, so why not have them delivered? Choose either a liners kit or a pads kit, and then fill out the corresponding form. Your kit will arrive in 6 to 8 weeks.
