Weekly sale ads are among the most important tools deal seekers have in their arsenal to find the best prices. However, the days of picking up a Sunday newspaper and finding a stack of weekly ads from Walgreens, Target, CVS, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco are over. While Costco still mails a monthly savings book to members, the other retailers shifted their weekly ads from print to online.

Increasingly, you'll find when you look at the online weekly ads for these stores that you don't know whether or not an item is on sale, and if it's on sale, if it's at a good price. Sometimes, the word "sale" does not appear at all in a product description.

DealNews has examined the weekly ads for Target, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, CVS, and Walgreens to help navigate your way through to the best savings each retailer has to offer.

For some items, a Target Circle membership is required to receive the sale price. Twice a year, Target holds a Target Circle Week, where members receive a percentage discount off of items in numerous product categories.
