VIDEO: Is August Too Early for Pumpkin Spice Lattes?

Get ready for yet another form of holiday creep.
Published

This year, Starbucks is going to start selling the Pumpkin Spice Latte on August 25. That's almost a full month before fall officially begins!

In this brief — yet lively — video, our experts discuss pumpkin spice flavored things, and whether or not "holiday creep" leads to fatigue and ruins the special-ness of a Pumpkin Spiced Latte.

What about you, readers? Should all the things be pumpkin spiced or are pumpkins only for jack-o-lantern-ing? Tell us in the comments below!

I believe that we are pushing all seasons too soon. I love the fall season the most, but it is hard to think of fall when it is 85-90 degrees outside and I am still wearing my swim trunks at the beach. So yes August is way to early. I would think October 1 would be a better release date.

@Craigsla Maybe it was actually a clearance sale from last year...

This Isn't too bad 2 months ahead, whats horrible is yesterday i went to Sams Club and they had Christmas trees out already! Not just a fluke either, they also had lights, wreathes and other Christmas stuff.

Fall does not officially begin on the equinox (around Sept. 21). This is the beginning of astronomical fall. Nothing more nothing less. Meteorological fall begins Sep. 1. No government or scientific body has ever declared that the equinox is the official beginning of fall (or the summer solstice the beginning of summer, etc.). I do not understand why so many people believe this to be so. For more information see "The Straight Dope"

The Holiday creep is getting rediculous. I agree with Jeff, it just ruins the holiday/season. The stores are really pushing it when they start bringing out Christmas stuff at Halloween. Our thermometers are still hitting triple digits in Texas. Hold the pumkin spice until October.

Pumpkin spice latte's are wrong, wrong, so very wrong! Enough of them and the world turn's upside down....pretty soon you'll find cat's sleeping with dog's who knows where it might lead.

Only if love is like a lake: Exhaustible and finite.
Maybe, though, love is like a river? Ever refreshing and flowing ... and full of snapping turtles and ugh, is that a DEAD BODY?!
Metaphorically.

I would worry that drinking pumpkin spice lattes now would be akin to listening to holiday music in November... I get sick of it by the time it's appropriate, and it makes me sad.

Drinking pumpkin spice lattes in 90 degree weather just doesn't seem right...
