The 6 Most Commonly Stolen Items May Surprise You
Retail theft is a serious issue. In fact, there's even an acronym for it: Organized Retail Crime, or ORC, costs the industry $30 billion a year, according to the National Retail Federation. That number alone may be shocking, but we're more surprised by what people are stealing.
As a way to draw attention to the issue, the NRF put together this handy infographic below, which includes the top-targeted items being stole from stores. And while we didn't expect a mass number of people trying to shove 32" TVs under their coats, baby formula wasn't high on our list of guesses, either. (Laundry detergent may also raise some eyebrows, although it appears there's a darker underside to that one.)
On a less serious note, Lucky Magazine paid homage to Sofia Coppola's recent release The Bling Ring by rounding up the "most famous shoplifting scandals ever," which coincidentally features some of the most beautiful women ever.
