The 24-year-old fashion phenom Alexander Wang created a small, limited edition collection for Japenese mega-retailer Uniqlo, and of course we stopped by the NYC store when it made its debut this past weekend. We were greeted by a cool, tri-color palette of lightweight fabrics that looked silken in their movement and to the touch. We approved of his use of greys, blacks, and creams that work both in the summer, and in the colder months. We snapped up this faux button vest dress, that clocked in at a mere $69.50, and this shift dress which retails for $49.50. Lucky us, since we found a few of Wang's dresses at Nordstrom, like this Alexander Wang Ice Skater Dress that retails for $595. Kudos to Uniqlo for executing execeptional quality with these garments that maintain a designer look and feel (read: they look way, way more than $70). Although most styles and sizes blew out the door on the first day, a little birdy told us that there would be more coming in Monday, June 2nd. Unfortunately, the New York City store is the only U.S. location and Uniqlo doesn't have ecommerce, so if you can't make a trip to the big Apple to check out the line, stay tuned for the next installation of the Designers Invitation Project at Uniqlo!
