Rumor Roundup: Pay-Per-Use iPhone 3G? Star Fox / Metroid Mashup?

When the Internet runs out of news, they start making things up. We think this is funny, so we round up all the lies and speculation and put them here. We call it "Rumor Roundup" and we do it all for you! This week:

  • Konami will announce two new Castlevania games at E3?
But I'm still working on the first one! (And if anyone tells you they beat that original game, they are a liar. Unfriend them immediately.) [GameFreaks]

  • iPhone 3G will be offered on pay-as-you-go plans?
Did you ever think that you would live in a world where Apple would allow you the privalege to pay-per-month and still use a beloved iPhone? (Sure, it's the three-generations-old model, but still!) How kind! [The Mac Observer]

  • Google will let 30% of Motorola staff go after merger?
I was never good at percents, but how much is left after you subtract that 30% from their "don't be evil" policy? What's that? "It's just business, not morality?" Hmmm. I think we've found a deeper problem, then, don't you? [IntoMobile]

  • Apple's iTV won't be an HDTV?
Then they are going to have serious branding issues / consumer confusion. "I'd like to return my iTV as it's broken." "Broken? How?" "I could not watch television on it." "Of course you couldn't ... it's an iTV!" "So ... NOT a TV, then?" "Good lord, no. Why would you assume that?" [BGR]

  • Star Fox / Metroid mashup called "Metroid Fusion" will be announced at E3?
The name "Nostalgia Cash-Grab" was already taken by the above Castlevania games. [Paul Gale Network]

  • Wii will drop to $99 after E3?
It's technically called the "we have a new model out, so we're gonna get what we can from these old units before you really don't want them no more" price. [GameRant]

  • OS X Mountain Lion will have Siri-like functionality?
Your once-quiet office will now be filled with co-workers babbling to their computers at increasing volumes, trying to out-shout the others, Wall Street trader-style. [ubergizmo]
