Rumor Roundup: New Xbox Controller? Xbox Set-Top Box? More?

When the internet runs out of news, it starts making things up. We think this is funny, so we round up all the lies and speculation and put them here. We call it the "Rumor Roundup" and we do it all for you! This week:

  • Next-Gen Xbox Will Include a Redesigned Controller?
If they can redesign it so that the buttons don't stick, I'm all for it! I mean, don't stick after one drops ice cream on it. True story. That was the very first thing I did with my new Xbox. The buttons have stuck ever since. It's gross. And so am I. [Gadget Insiders]

  • Microsoft Working on a Set-Top Box?
To compete with the Apple TV, it will be next-to useless and always be recognized by a, "Huh. Is that a MicrosoftTV? I didn't know anyone had one?" It's the only way to compete. [The Verge]

  • Google Will Release a Touchscreen Chromebook?
Hear me. Feel me. Touch me! The Tommy(tm) Chromebook, by Google! (Each one arrives damaged, but gets better the more you play the included pinball app.) [Digital Trends]

  • Foxconn Will Make Microsoft and Amazon Cell Phones, Too?
Cell phones for all, from all. Next thing you know, dealnews will have our own cell phone. (Ironically, there will be no good deals on it.) [PCMag]

  • Windows 8 Update, Codenamed "Blue" Coming Mid-2013?
Yeah, because referencing "blue" when it comes to Microsoft products (as in "-screen of death") is a good idea. Would they name their yatch "The Totally Sinkable" and their dirigible "The Combustable?" [The Verge]
