Retail Future: An iPad for Every Store Clerk

Predictions for iPad sales are rosy, to say the least, and among those who will be buying in bulk are your favorite stores. And that means good news for customers, because all of us are tired of asking clerks for help and having them shrug their shoulders or radio for a manager who never arrives.

Giving store clerks powerful mobile computing power means that they will be able to find items in stock, look up inventory, order items that aren't on the shelves, find out more information about their customers and coordinate with these customers and their smartphones.

What is this future going to look like? We got a preview at the National Retail Federation's trade show, where the CEO of Global Bay, Sandeep Bhanote, was on hand to demonstrate his company's new interface to help customers and clerks interact via the iPad. Here's how it works:
