Meet Your Grilling Needs for Less With Our Shopping List

By Lindsay Sakraida, dealnews staff writer

With spring finally showing its face in the north (and summer already closing in on the south), it's time to start planning for that ultimate celebration of being outside: the cookout. Naturally, many shoppers are itching to find deals on a grill. But, in order for this purchase to make the intangible leap from mere appliance to social centerpiece, you'll need some supporting actors. With our discounted picks below, you'll save as much as $263 and still keep family and friends entertained all season long.

The Grill:
While there are a wide variety of options to choose from, this Kenmore 4-Burner Gas Grill is a particularly noteworthy deal — especially if you're expecting company. The Kenmore cooks up to 24 burgers at once, and it features an additional side burner (perfect for heating up side dishes). Or, scale back and opt for charcoal with the Guide Gear Park-Style Grill. (You can also keep an eye out for more grill deals here, if neither option piques your interest.)
Price: Kenmore, $218.47 + pickup, lowest we've seen by $29; Guide Gear, $49.28 + $7.99 s&h, a price low by $13

Grill Cover:
You'll want to keep your investment protected from the elements with a weather-resistant cover. Your selection will ultimately depend on the dimensions of your grill, but the Brinkmann 65" Grill Cover is an excellent deal that protects the entire appliance, from top to bottom.
Price: $12.97 + free shipping, a price low by $7

Tools and Serving:
A savvy backyard chef would never make the faux pas of using the wrong tool for the job, which means this Brinkmann Stainless Steel and Wood 4-Piece Grilling Tool Set is an ideal investment. Flip, pierce and examine your culinary goods, and then, after all is said and done, keep the grill spotless with the included brush. Likewise, outdoor cooking is no place for ordinary (read: breakable) plates. With this SONOMA Outdoors Plastic 4-Piece Plate Set, your guests could practically throw their dishes on the ground and still avoid serious damage.
Price: Tool set, $14.97 + free shipping, a low by $9; Plates, $4.04 via "NEW527" + $5.95 s&h, $5 off

The Food:
What's a cookout without meat? Your local market will likely have the cheapest carnivorous options, but for something special at a discount, try the Omaha Steaks Taste of Spring Combo. Not only does it include filet mignon, sirloin steaks, stuffed sole, pork chops, burgers, hot dogs and potatoes au gratin, but it also comes with a free 2-lb. ham! (If you have a vegetarian in the group, we suggest pointing them toward the nearest Costco.)
Price: $99.99 + $17.99 s&h, $129 off

Dining outside is peachy keen, but eating while standing up is not. Instead of making your guests juggle their plates, invest in proper seating. Home Depot currently offers massive cuts on its patio furniture, where we found the tranquil Fontaine 5-Piece Urban Seating Set; with its two side tables, you can also cut down on the number of people awkwardly balancing a plate on their knees.
Price: $299 + free shipping, $100 off

Total cost: $512 to $673
Total savings: At least $263

"the Brinkmann 65" Grill Cover is an excellent deal" - Dealnews should follow their link, then look at the ratings for this product. They'd see it's not such a great deal with the cover tearing easily. I wanted one, but I chose to avoid this "deal" and look for a better built product.
There was a groupon this past week with FreshDirect ($25 for $50 worth of food). I ordered a bone-in ribeye steak and 2 NY strip steaks (all organic, grass fed beef - tastes much better). Normally this would cost over 50. I am always hesitant ordering beef from omaha steaks and I figure I could get a better deal at my local butcher.
