Get the Look: Natalie Portman

Published
People often draw attention to similarities between Natalie Portman and the iconic beauty of Audrey Hepburn – the almond-shaped eyes, the delicate build, the thick, straight eyebrows – but their sense of style is one in the same because they both exemplify classic good looks. Natalie is the embodiment of grace, poise, and polish, and any girl who can sport a shaved head and still make it look chic because of her timeless style is a girl we'd like to imitate.

Because her style is so enduring, anyone who takes Natalie's lead is sure to look fantastic. There's virtually no risk to emulating her look! Our favorite of her outfits is from the 2006 Golden Globes, when she wore a vintage strapless, black lace Chanel dress. The delicate shape is perfect to showcase a beautiful décolletage, and how can you go wrong with Chanel? This Tocca Black Floral Tulle 'Joanne' Strapless Dress ($169.99, Bluefly.com) is just as delicate and sophisticated as Chanel, but eons cheaper. If you're not wild about the lace and tulle, Bluefly.com also offers this YAYA AFALO LOVE Black Jersey Twist Shirred Strapless Dress for $111. It's more streamlined and simple, while maintaining the same silhouette. For a comparable -- but less expensive -- option, look no further than Rampage. The store carries this Strapless Lace Dress with Tulle for $39.99, which is strikingly similar to the Tocca dress. Sizes however are limited. For a cheaper equivalent of the YAYA dress, try this AE Winterland Strapless Dress for $19.95 at American Eagle. We're convinced though that spending a bit more on this style of dress is worth it; there will never be a day when it will be outdated.

Natalie is also wonderful with accessories. She chooses jewelry that are simultaneously classic and yet, unexpected. Take for example the jeweled headband she wore in 2005. Nothing about it screams trendy or hip, but few others think to sport their jewelry on their crown instead of around their neck. Dominique Duval Juliet With Floating Crystals ($126, Fred Segal) looks fabulous over hair that's raked back and tied into a knot or chignon. Target also offers the lower cost, Isaac Mizrahi Bridal for Target Rhinestone Triple Headband for $17.99; sure it's technically meant to wear down the aisle, but no one needs to know that. If you have an affinity for baubles, the large gems on this Green Lucite Jewel Headband ($10, GlitzandGlamourBoutique.com) are a playful addition to a sleek black outfit.

In addition to wearing her jewels on her head, Natalie also sports them across her waist, like on the aforementioned Chanel dress. A brooch is so easy to pin onto any outfit, including every dress we picked. The Sterling Silver Brooch with Black Onyx and Marcasite ($34.99, Target) looks a bit antique, but has the luster of being new. All you need know to finish off the look is a pair of fantastic shoes. Natalie recently designed a line of vegan shoes for Te Casan, all of which are absolutely gorgeous, but because they're made in extremely limited editions, they run for about $200 a pop. These Black Patent Platform Peep Toe Pumps Heels ($15.99, Amiclubwear.com) are a great alternative.

Natalie Portman exhibits classic, breathtaking style in the vein of iconic film beauty, Audrey Hepburn. Because her style is so timeless, we have no reservations in emulating it. After all, who doesn't want their clothes to be undeniably beautiful and everlasting?
