Get the Look: Lily Allen

While we love the music of Brit-songstress Lily Allen, we equally adore her style because it's so clearly representative of her music and personality; it's bold, colorful, occasionally loud, and a bit hip hop/girl group inspired. She wears thick chains and street-wear with a lovely dress, modified bouffant, and 60s liquid eyeliner. No one's style is so simultaneously easy and fun to emulate.

The first step toward becoming Lily starts with the dress. Her dress selections veer from 80s prom frou frou to contemporary flounces and ruching. We think this bright yellow Gryphon Dress for $128 at Anthropologie is fantastic; it has a very feminine shape and bright color -- both important factors for Lily's dress choices. If you shy from allover color, go for this look, but with a demure twist. The Sandra Tube Dress for $44.50 at dELiA's is similarly blue and striped, but the color is more washed out. While vivid color is important for the Lily look, shape is paramount; a fitted bodice and A-line skirt are the common factors in all her dresses, and the adorable dELiA's tube dress fits nicely.

Lily is also known to wear lots of fun, street chic sneakers (or trainers, as the Brits say) – often with her dresses. You simply cannot go wrong with a pair of the classic Converse Chuck Taylors. (fittingly) offers these All Star Core Hi-Tops for $39.99 in six different colors. Converse makes hundreds of styles however in a variety of fabrics, so for something more personal or distinctive, try the Converse Outlet to get a deal on one of the numerous styles from last season or a random selection of limited edition shoes, all at a discount. And if you really want to go all out with some colorful, graphic style, try either these Nike Dunk Low NKEs ($70, or these Harajuku Lovers Kogal Hi Text Sneakers ($51.99, The pop of Gwen Stefani's design is pretty fantastic for the flashy Brit.

Lily's jewelry is very important to her style; like her sneakers, her jewelry harkens back to her R&B tinged music with long, gold or silver chains which are anything but dainty. R.J. Graziano makes perfect necklaces that combine a thick link chain and a heavy pendant. They're a little hip hop but with some serious chic glamour. Both the R.J. Graziano Crystal Pendant ($95, Max & Chloe) or the R.J. Graziano Royal Charm Pendant Long Necklace ($49.99, are perfect to throw on with the Gryphon dress. For those more introverted days, try this Filigree Necklace for $5.80 at Forever 21. If you're daring and willing to go all the way, try these Gold Over Sterling Silver Textured Ribbon Hoop Earrings for $12.99 at Target. Or try for dozens of enormous, golden 80s hoop earrings, ranging in price from $4.99-$12.99. What can we say? Lily likes her doorknockers.

There are few celebrities whose style looks as much fun as Lily Allen's. She doesn't take herself too seriously, and as a result, everything about her attire pops – whether it's the tart-colored dresses or the enormous jewelry. With our picks, now anyone who likes playfulness to exude from her wardrobe can tap into Lily's stylistic energy.
