Get the Look: Gwen Stefani

Published
Gwen Stefani is, hands down, one of the most iconic dressers of our time. When she was "Just a Girl," she mixed glam makeup and hair with sports bras and tracksuit bottoms, and millions of young girls followed suit. Once she hit the ground, she didn't stop running; time after time, Gwen shows up in avant-garde looks that always pop.

That's because Stefani style is all about making a statement. Her platinum locks, red lipstick, and oft-extreme fashion (e.g. towering geisha shoes) are not for the weak of heart. Gwen certainly runs the gamut with her style, and it's hard to keep up. But we've narrowed it down to a few key pieces that scream Stefani.

First, who could forget the debut of her solo career which was also the beginning of her trippy Alice in Wonderland come Tokyo teen look. Slide on a Satin Headwrap ($2.80, Forever21); pull up white, opaque Perfection Footed Tights ($5, Walgreens); and fasten a pair of Nine West 'Zampa' Mary Jane Pumps ($78.95, Nordstrom) to get the basic look. And while you may never find this at a Target or Kohl's, a Vince Jumper Dress for $147 at Shopbop.com will do the trick. Or venture into Gwen's own L.A.M.B. line with this Sailor Skirt for $132.

Gwen always has a piece that absolutely pops; sometimes she has several. We love Gwen's affection for leopard, and if you can't manage an entire coat – like this Dennis Basso Leopard Print Belted Trench Coat for $52 at QVC.com – at least chance this pair of Mossimo Dierdre Jet Heel Pumps in Leopard for $24.99 at Target. We also think she'd approve of this Metallic Python Trench Coat for $39.50 at Wet Seal. It has classic, ladylike appeal with an edge – just like Gwen. You could also try standing out with this Harajuku Lovers Contrast Watch for $44.99 at PacSun.com – part of Gwen's other clothing line.

No matter how close you come to Gwen's sartorial style, however, it doesn't mean a thing unless you get the hair right. This means, no scraggly, fashionably unkempt locks in sight! Get this Big Sexy Hair Spray for $11.29 at Beauty.com, and any style you attempt (faux-hawk, pin curls, voluminous body, etc.), it'll never budge an inch.

It can be hard to keep up with Gwen Stefani's innovative, ever-changing style. But integrating a few key pieces – including some that are very eye-catching – is the key to making your presence pop.
