Best Time to Buy: iPhone Accessories, Cases, Chargers, Earbuds and Apps

By Aaron Crowe, dealnews writer

If you're one of the estimated 1 million people who bought an iPhone within the first three days that Verizon started offering it, you're now probably looking for some bling to show it off, protect it and make it easier to use. Or, if you're just an old AT&T iPhone user who needs to keep up with the Joneses, here are some iPhone accessories on sale that you won't want to pass up:

Case, screen protector, charger
The first thing you're going to need is a case (and a screen-protector), because, as existing users will tell you, if the phone drops and the screen cracks, or if the screen gets scratched in your pocket, you won't be happy. You don't want to be on the street showing off your new phone and have it splinter in front of you!

If you're looking for a great deal, try this one from PC Micro Store for $6.99 includes the Koo Leather Holster Case for iPod touch/iPhone, and coupon code "IPH3GLCD3PK" adds the rooCase Screen Protector for iPhone 3-Pack and the Young Micro Dual USB 2-in-1 Travel Charger for free. Free shipping is included and beats what we could find for a similar case by $3. The coupon expires after 1,000 uses.

Another case that's on sale — and is more of a case than the leather holster above — is also from PC Micro Store: it comes with a 7-pack of Young Micro TPU Bumper Cases for the Apple iPhone 4 (now expired) in assorted colors and comes with a front and back screen protector set for $9.98 with free shipping. The seven interchangeable cases cover the edge of your iPhone 4, and coupon code "IP4GBUMPPK" must be used when buying the front and back screen protector to get the seven bumper cases for 57 cents each. The coupon ends after 500 uses.

What's worse than being out without your new phone? Trying to download apps and talk and check your email when the battery runs dry! You'll find out very quickly that all the computing power that comes with the iPhone means that you use it a lot, and hence need extra juice. The Energizer PowerSleeve for iPhone 4 from Newegg.com has gone up by $10 to $39.99 since we last reported on it in January, but that's still $30 off the original price. The non-slip, fingerprint-resistant silicone case charges an iPhone via its built-in rechargeable 1500 mAh battery. It detects when the phone is low on battery life, then automatically charges it.

If you're going to listen to music on your new iPhone, you'll need some earbuds. United Global Products through Buy.com is selling the Skullcandy Ink'd Smokin Earbud Headphones 2-Pack in silver, model no. S2INBLSZ-2PACK, for $14.99 and includes free shipping. That's the best total price we could find for two pairs by $7.

What's better than using your new toy as a toy. Apple's App Store is selling downloadable applications(now expired) for 99 cents for a limited time, including: Toy Store Mania for $4 off, Sketch Agent Pro for $1 off, Galaga Remix for $2 off and the remastered classic arcade game PAC-MAN Championship Edition for $2.99, which is $2 off.

Another app worth buying is the Navigon MobileNavigator: North America for Apple iPhone(now expired) for $29.99 at the iTunes App Store. It's the lowest price we've seen for a GPS application for the iPhone. This software has features for lane assistance, easy transfer between devices of saved favorite locations, and optional in-app purchases of travel guides.
