There's an awesome deal available on one of our favorite hotels in Ireland, saving you $678 on a 6-night stay.
A few months ago, we were thrilled to find a deal on stays at the lovely Powerscourt hotel in Ireland (a personal favorite), and we sang its praises in a feature. This week however, we found an even better deal that knocks an additional $400 off the price, so we're back again with reasons why you should really consider booking a trip to the Emerald Isle.
We discovered this Powerscourt Hotel 6-night flight, hotel, and car rental package for two (from $1,998, a low by $678; expires July 21), and cannot recommend it more highly. Not only does it save you a whopping $678, but the value goes even further. Located in County Wicklow, which is fondly known as the Garden of Ireland, this hotel package offers delights that far exceed the price you'll pay. Join us, as we recount the many reasons why you should snatch up this deal before it expires in a few days.
10 Reasons Why You Should Buy This 'Garden of Ireland' Deal

It's Only 45 Minutes From Dublin Airport
Many vacation packages to Ireland require an over-night stay in Dublin before you can get to your actual destination, which basically cuts a day from your visit since you can't really settle and relax. But with this package, you can head straight out to your destination and get settled in immediately.
The Hotel is Beside Powerscourt Estate
Located in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, the hotel is at the epicenter of the Garden of Ireland, right beside Powerscourt Estate. The estate was voted as one of Lonely Planet's Top 10 Houses and Mansions in the World, based on it's stunning gardens, breath-taking waterfall, and two world class golf courses.
Powerscourt Waterfall is One of Ireland's Top Natural Wonders
The waterfall at Powerscourt is renowned for its beauty and is also the tallest waterfall in Ireland. Take the 3-mile drive from the estate under a canopy of 200-year-old beech, oak, larch, and pine trees, and bring a picnic to enjoy in the great outdoors.
It's Just 30 Minutes From the Capital City
The car rental included in this deal will come in handy when exploring the area. Powerscourt is 45 minutes south of Dublin airport and about 30 minutes from Dublin's city center, where you'll find the Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery, Christ Church Cathedral, and Trinity College (as well as the DealNews Dublin office)! By the way, make sure you do the alcoholic attractions early enough to be sober for the drive home; not only is it safe and common sense, but Ireland has a strict drunk-driving policy.
Visit the Waterford Crystal Factory
If you're keen on an even longer drive, then visit the Waterford Crystal factory, producer of the world-famous glassware. It's just under an hour from the Powerscourt Hotel.
Play on a PGA Golf Course
The East Course at Powerscourt was designed by Walker Cup Captain Peter McEvoy and has hosted many of Ireland's major golfing tournaments, including the Irish PGA Championship and the European Tour Irish Senior Open. The West Course is a more scenic experience, with views of the Irish Sea and Wicklow hills. There are plenty of other golf courses in County Wicklow, notably the Glen of the Downs (also designed by Peter McEvoy).
Be Charmed by Avoca Handweavers at Avoca Village
Visit the oldest surviving working mill in Ireland (dated from 1723) in Avoca village, just south of Powerscourt. The boutique shop here sells products like clothing, soft furnishing, gifts, and food from the Avoca Pantry range. Be prepared to stop for lunch: once you get a look at their home-baked bread, you'll want to eat all your meals here.
Michelle "O'Bama" Has Been There
Did you know that President Obama is actually Irish? Well, partly anyway. The president's great-great-great-grandfather hails from a tiny town called Moneygall, County Offaly. In 2013, the first family traveled to Ireland to find their roots, and during their tour Michelle Obama and her daughters stopped off in Glendalough, about 30 minutes from Powerscourt. Glendalough is home to the remains of a 6th century settlement, including the Round Tower and St. Kevin's Church.
