Amazon offers Prime members the Akira: 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray / DVD for $14.99 with free shipping. (Best Buy charges the same with pickup.) That's the best price we've seen for this edition in two years, and it's also a current low by $3. It includes a remaster of the original Japanese audio track, original trailers, a documentary about the restoration of the film, and other bonus features.

Update: Best Buy now offers this for $13.99; add the Blu-ray to your cart for $14.99 and select shipping in-cart. During checkout, you'll be given the option to switch to in-store pickup, which will also drop the price.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the film, which has served as a gateway to anime for many fans in the United States. This year, however, is the 35th anniversary of its source material, the original manga from Katsuhiro Otomo. You can preorder the Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set from Walmart or Amazon for $134.99 with free shipping (at least a $27 savings). It includes six hardcover volumes in the manga's original right-to-left format. It's due for release on October 31.
